Family and Friends we are here for a very special occasion – to witness the marriage of Name and Name. Today is a coming together in the presence of God and these witnesses to celebrate the joining of this couple in the unity of marriage. This ceremony will be remembered and cherished by both Name and Name for the rest of their lives. What a true blessing for us to be a part of it. I welcome you.

Name, please face Name and hold his/her hands, so you may feel the gift that you are to one another.

These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow and forever.

These are the hands that will work alongside yours as together you build your future.

These are that hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years and with the slightest touch will comfort you like no other.

These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief wracks your mind.

These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes; tears of sorrow and tears of joy

These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children

These are the hands that will help you to hold your family as one.

These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it.

And lastly, these are the hands then even when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for you, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.

Intent

Name, will you take Name, whose hands you hold, choosing her/him alone to be your wedded partner? Will you live with her/him in the state of true matrimony? Will you love her/him, comfort her/him, through good times and bad, in sickness and in health, honor her/him at all times, and be faithful to her/him? (I will)

VOWS

Name/name, please repeat after me:

Today I will marry my friend, /The one I will live with, dream with and love. /I take you to be my wife/ I will cherish you, /I will look with joy down the path of our tomorrows /We will walk together side by side, hand in hand/ and heart to heart./ Respecting each other /we commit to live our lives /together for all the days to come. /I ask you to share this world with me, for good and ill. /Be my partner and I will be yours.
